Spring is in the air! Time for something new...
The Artpopalypse – The “POP” Rock
Opera
Contextual
Background: Lady Gaga’s trajectory
is already legendary and she has made groundbreaking headway into the future
with her entire Born This Way movement.
Gaga possesses a profound
understanding of the importance of people who don’t fit the social norm, and
her art form consistently transforms us into something we are proud to be.
We believe that now is
time for Lady Gaga to make her mark in the Pop/Rock Opera World with a major
work grounded in these same values. The Artpopalypse is the perfect vehicle for
her to achieve greatness in this genre.
Inspired by The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Artpopalypse picks up 28 years
later on a distant planet, after Janet Weise has given birth to fraternal twins
on the dying planet Earth. Dead Eddie is the result of her encounter with
Rocky, the creation of Frank N Furter.
Nerissa is daughter of Frank N Furter himself.
We
believe that Lady Gaga was born to play Nerissa!
In her own words… (From Lady Gaga’s Keynote
Address, Austin Texas’s Hilton Hotel, SXSW, 2014)
“You come see me,
it’s like your time-warped to the 70’s.”
“Every moment of my
life is dedicated to my music and my fans.”
“Artpop…art and
music together in the spirit of creative rebellion.”
“Your life is your
own art piece and you can make it what ever you want.”

“POP” Rock Opera
CHAPTER I – the “RESURRECTED”
28 years after the fall of Earth’s civilization…
… on a distant planet that
is lost in space, and meaning, where life is void of all sensual pleasure - no
art, no pop, no gender - an androgynous
population has expanded beyond its capacity to survive. A population that has
lost the meaning of life itself; with one exception --
“Nerissa”
Nerissa at 28, is on the verge of her prime and has
aged out. An outcast, she works in the mines, as does every one else on this
god-forsaken planet. But unlike everyone else, Nerissa holds a secret, the
secret to life itself.
Born a twin to an earthling
mother, and a father who was a renowned scientist here on her androgynous home
planet, she alone survives her family. And, she alone seems to have manifested
an artistic gift, the human gift of song. Strictly shunned, her art form may
also be her sentence of death.
Lost and as meaningless as
her home planet, Nerissa wanders through a bleak and lonely existence until The Time of Change…
Life, as it is known on this
planet, must change. The salt mined can
only attract so much atmospheric moisture from the planet’s floating sea that
supports its ever-expanding population. The sea for which “Nerissa” was named
and from which “legend” says the “RESURRECTED” will come.
On the very eve of The Time of Change, Nerissa encounters another
outcast in the mines, whom she takes under-her-wing, Giselle who is 18. A younger version of Nerissa herself, Giselle
too seems to have something to hide.
Joining forces, these two
outcasts enlist in the call of allegiance to The Time of Change and
begin a strange journey. A journey they will remember for the rest of their
lives.
And, so begins an epic tale of
survival of the fittest where the first shall be last, the last shall be first,
and the “Resurrection” of an outcast will save all.
