~ THEN ~
A Christmas Story From Le Tron ~ “Toys With A Twist!”
The world
was crashing down around Prince Edward as he dashed from the floor aloft to a fallen
door. Down the darkened corridor, he could see the now twisted metal of the
lowered drawbridge, aglow with the orange and red of the white-hot snow.
As it was
written, so it was now, “…and the earth of the place, the once frozen Belowe,
will melt with a Tempest rolling in on red snow. The whole of Above will rain down on them
there, as the Prince who was ‘chosen’ ascends in mid-air.”
The
mechanicals thrummed in echoing rotation, their wind unbearable now, as the Emperor
Number One issued his final command, “Your Highness, take no precautions for
yourself, or that which you will tow. Be
fearless, Beloved Prince, and live the Must Know.”The Penguin
Guards slid past, on their bellies every one, and directed his forthcoming, as
Prince Edward did run.
The Prince
reached the drawbridge, almost too hot to bear, and made one final leap, into
mid-air.
And so it was done above, so was done
below, the end to begin again, the End
of Belowe.
The young
Prince Edward, now Eddie-No-More, landed heavily on the cold metal floor. His lungs on fire, his black hair singed off,
tears streaked down his cheeks for all that was lost.
“All must be
lost for all to be saved,” began the Must Know. Edward knew this was how his story would go.
Edward rose
to his feet, gazed about the rusted interior of the mechanical craft, and
slowly moved to his seat, never again to look back.
The data was
as clear as was the sky up ahead, Belowe and Above both now seemingly dead.
He took his
place on the bridge and engaged the two Recyle-trons there, Michael to the left,
and Joseph to his right in the Captain’s Chair.
Then the dark screen in front of the young
prince flickered to life:
“King
Edward Nicklaus I”
Our
world now done, as only You Must Know.
The
Above long dead, and now the Belowe.
Chosen
to survive with great cargo in tow
To
start one last time in the North-Land of snow.
Saint
Nicklaus the Great is how you’ll be known,
Creating
a new world from upon a new throne.
All
that was salvaged from the time of before,
Toys
broken, words spoken, and things of no more, You carry in tow -- to the
place you now go,
With
great love and care, to recreate new ones there.
And
when the time of healing is come. You Must Know you’re the one --
To
teach us to share
And
for each other to care.
King
Nicklaus, Prince Edward–No-More, took a deep breath and released it slowly, as
he pushed the button to lower his personal communication’s screen and the words
from Above the Above.
He thought
to himself with the slightest of smiles, ‘So it is written….’
He turned to
the Recyle-tron on his left and issued his first command in his forever.
“Michael, plot a course for the North-Land.”
“Aye-aye Sire,”
came the mechanical voice of the Number Two Robot.
“Joseph,
have the contents of the mounds been uploaded to cargo bays Davide and Ezra-Rye-Elle
respectively?” inquired King Nicklaus.
“Aye-aye,
Sire. All of the salvaged contents, the
broken toys and broken joys which have made up the mounds, have been up-lifted
and lavender- wrapped, your Highness,” intoned the mechanical voice of the Number
One Robot, whose eyebolts twisted in what might be described as a wink.
“And if it
might be all right, just this once, your Highness, we would like you to know,
Eddie the Simple One, what an honor it was to serve your parents, King Davide
and Queen Ezra-Rye-Elle, and to be chosen, Sire, now to serve with you.”
“Yes, my
dear, dear Number One Recycle-tron, it is an honor to be Chosen indeed!”
replied the Great King.
Madame
Le Tron slowly closed the large leather-bound book from which she had been reading
and knew by tradition what she would find:
Giselle, wiping her eyes; Alice, the petite phantom, flying through the
air, oil cans at the ready; and her beloved Recycle-trons, rusting from the
tears of emotion that this age-old story always brought forth.
Madame
said a silent prayer, bent closer to Giselle, catching her moist gaze, and
mouthed the words “Joyeux Noel, Mon Cherie” to her beloved best friend – which only caused the pretty young coed to cry that
much harder!
Adorable,
right?
